Wood Sorrel – Edible Plants

The woodsorrel is a nutritious edible weed.

Wood sorrel is one of my favorite edible wild plants.
Its sorrel taste is great and you can use it in a morning salad. It’s found all over in Hungary. If you keep your eyes open, you will find it everywhere.

The genus name for wood sorrel is oxalis.
There are many different species. Some have white flowers, some have yellow or pink.

In Hungary, yellow occurs most often.

Wood sorrel is high in vitamin C and also contains vitamin A and also high in oxalic acid.

I love eating a sprig of wood sorrel all by itself. It’s also one of my favorite salad ingredients.
Both the leaves and the flowers are edible.

People eating wood sorrel in salads at fancy New York restaurants.
And sweetened wood sorrel tea is said to taste something like lemonade, and some people use it in beer-making.

How can you Identify?

It has three heart-shaped leaves.  Because it has three leaves on each stem, it is sometimes confused with clover.
Each leaf has a center crease.
The leaves are usually green.

An autumn day in nature

Autumn is my favorite season. I like the way it changes. Everything changes, the trees get naked and every fragrance changes day by day.

I like to walk in the fallen leaves. Jump in and throw them away.

I like it when my breath is visible in the cold air.
Candles in the dark. Look at how the birds sit in lines and then fly south.

And I like the smell of wet fallen leaves. In this season, the smell of dust is different even after the rain. Seeing the first rimy leaf on the cold ground. Autumn makes me happy.

I love to see the world around me change and slowly fall asleep to come back to life in the spring.

And it’s time to watch the birds on the patio or in the garden with a warm cup of tea.
And now is the time to pull on the warm wool socks.

I love the mosses under the fallen leaves.

And lichen branches all over the ground.

At this point, I feel complete peace and almost nothing exists. Neither the rush nor the things I should have to do. It feels a very safe feeling.

I like to look at the birds, so from the middle of autumn to the end of winter I make food for them.

I love the last strong sunbeams on my face. I want to enjoy every moment before winter comes and nobody knows when the sun will shine again. Waiting for days, weeks, months.

This is the last time I pick a dose of herbs.
Yarrow, Nettle, Oxalis….

It was one of the last days of autumn when I can collect herbs. Maybe the last time this year.
I’ll dry them like that, I’m getting ready for the winter.

All About My Hair – I haven’t washed my hair with shampoo in half a year!

I haven’t washed my hair with chemicals in half a year.

Embarrassing topic!😂😂

Fragmentation, bran .. unquestionably since I live in the city.

Somewhere I drew a parallel in my head, but many just say “I don’t think so” when I shared that suspicion.
I still have the suspicion that there may be a lot to do with this, especially being an urban person.

(If you’re only interested in the end result, scroll down to “It’s finally over!”)😉

Failure and Failure:

At first, of course, I tried a simple shampoo change, but nothing.
I changed from a stronger shampoo to a gentler shampoo.
Failure
With a natural wrap for dry scalp, because my hair is not so greasy.
Failure
I looked for some other tips. I dried it another way. But nothing. These were just a failure.😢

Then came the baby shampoo (not the brand, but any shampoo for babies), if it’s good for babies, it will be good for me too, I thought. For a moment, it seemed to have improved, but it hadn’t been a success yet.

Then I experimented. What if I wash once a week, and what if I wash every two days?
I tried to see if anything changed.

Almost!
Then came homeopathy and herbs.
And Eggs and beer … yes, eggs and beer.🤣
At first, I thought my hair was going to stink or something, but it worked particularly well. It solved the problem perfectly.👍

Then I realized something else last summer.

When we went on vacation for the sea, I was a little worried.
I don’t like to travel with big packages and the one and a half week trip were several stops.
So I gave up the big tube of shampoo and took only a little with me. I didn’t really use it during the whole vacation because we were constantly in the sea.
And see a miracle.🧚‍♀️
I didn’t get dandruff from the saltwater.

Natural seawater washed, wind and heat dried my hair.
And my hair was clean, beautiful, deal that the dandruff was gone!

After all, the diagnosis was made.
My scalp is hypersensitive to anything that is not completely 100% natural.
